Help! Lake condo bedroom needs help!

I'm really needing help making the decisions to finish this bedroom. I need a light/chandelier but don't know if it should be brushed nickel (the finish throughout this small condo on door knobs, faucets, etc and the pulls on the black dresser) or is that too much and the light/chandelier should be matte black? or another finish? It's 1/2 a ceiling fan hanging there now. I don't know what to use for bedside tables. I have a pair of the single white one in the picture, but, should I paint one? both? I want to use swing arm wall sconces instead of table lamps; should they be the same finish as the chandelier? I don't want a mirror over the dresser, but how large of a art piece should I use? The room is 13' (headboard wall) x 15' (window wall). Any advice to make this a cozy "California coastal" retreat?

Hi Kathy,

loving the blue upholstery on your bed. Very coastal and calming. A great focal point and start to what you trying to achieve [and the dresser too!]

You have some great ideas.

- have you thought of pendants by either side of the bed instead or just stick to your wall sconces [will give you much lighter / cosier feel]_black string = not bound to finish choices for the lighting body? [you could still use wall sconces

- sconces also can go above the dresser [you have lots of options on mixing & matching]

- you can relocate the pendant where the door is

- where the fan is here [just close it off]

- for walls, I would go for breezy/ coastal blue paint to add some life here or sand colour textured wallpaper

- start with wall first & the rest will follow naturally and you will expand on with great confidence

Hey Kathy,

Just came across your query and thought I would add a note! :) Your room is beautiful and big and definitely has tons of potential - I can also definitely picture a Cali-Coastal vibe in here, it looks like it gets plenty of light?

I love that you're looking to add some different elements of lighting in here, and my personal view is not to worry too much about all of the finishes being exactly identical, keeping it similar in tone will help if this kind of thing bothers your keen eye (ie perhaps stick to silvers if using metal).

Are you bringing any more furniture in here, and have you thought about any colours you might add?

Hi. Is this the Rockefeller image? If so, It's quite grey so I'd go for either chalky white or a pale grey for walls. Maybe a mid grey for curtains, if the light is good, have a look at Next for ideas. Mix white, grey and charcoal for the bed. Add a couple of black accents like a picture frame, lamp shade etc. maybe go for a mustard as an accent colour (think New York cabs!)

Help needed with slanted wall in bedroom!

Hello, The masterbedroom in our new build will have a slanted wall (dont ask why...our architects notions!) I need your help to design the inside around this ‘problem’ and turn it into something nice. The only place the bed will fit comfortably is against this slanted wall. See below 'bedroom drawing' . We are considering a stub wall to make it even/straight again. Has anyone any ideas /pictures on how this could look? Hi

You have such a light room. Good greyshade on bed, it's great. In my opinion you might paint both of tables in same color which you can choose. But it need to be more white, because you have dark brown floor.

I can give you one tip, which I use, when i need select color. I use this website https://create.vista.com/colors/color-names/grey/ and it listing of colors and images for picked color gamma. Helps to inspiration of future design
