Renovating our 1980s split level home, started with the kitchen, had to take down a wall to open up the space, move the doorway, remove a chimney as well, the old kitchen was small, doorway was at the back of the house so you used to have to walk through the house, go down the hallway to access it so we closed it up and opened up a doorway as you come in the front door, which let loads more light into the hall, we removed a chimney that sat in the corner of the kitchen, we didn't need it as we have a stove with a abck boiler in the living room part of our open plan kitchen.
