How to Hide a fireplace?

Hi everyone!

I have a problem in my rented apartment! I need to find a way to hide my fireplace. We don't really use it and can't remove it because is a rented place.

Our idea is to use the TV and TV bench to cover, but I'm not sure that will do the job.

Do you guys have any ideas? Also, what tv bench should I use?

I'd definitely put some kind of stone on the walls, all the way to the ceiling. I think the gas fireplace that you have is really cute, but might look at a stone slab on the floor instead of the mat that is there now. I'd take stone inside of that alcove as well, whether matching or contrasting. You can still hang art above, on top of the stone. It would really make the room!

I love your room, but it isn't done! Find some jazzy art to hang over the fireplace in vibrant colors. Select a major and minor color from the art work and add pillows, and 3 accessories that are LARGE to place on three places in the book shelves. If you like what you see at that point you are probably done, but if not then I think a glass and steel cocktail table round or oval would add sparkle, interest, and function to your room.....it really looks nice.

Totally agree with Coco Nuts. It's a beautiful fireplace and only painting the mantle shelf and placing a large mirror would give it a contemporary look.
