Help needed with new home
Hi everyone, I'm Chris! My partner and I have recently purchased our first home, a new one-bedroom apartment. We managed to create the main idea of how we think it should look like.
The apartment is empty now; this is the floor plan with a few items added by us:
We managed to create the main idea of how things will come together using a free online tool that let us export these pictures:
Any design suggestions about how to make the place look pretty and modern, from accent details/walls to pretty much anything else (lighting, paint, wallpaper, mirrors, etc), would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Jonathan. In total you have 8 dining chairs for two people? The dining table will restrict flow between bedroom and bathroom. Maybe consider a dining table / coffee table combo with some stackable chairs?
Functionally speaking the bedroom is only used at night but in your design it is placed in the area with the best day time light? Also the route from bedroom to bathroom is not direct. Maybe consider moving the bedroom to where the kitchen is and the living room or kitchen to where the bedroom is.
A bedroom is only used for 8 hours a day, for the remainder if the day it just takes up space that could be used for living. Maybe consider a Murphy bed?

Need help with redesigning front of house
Comments (10)Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. PROMake My Blinds
4 years agoThe soft furnishings and small details are what turn any space into a cosy feeling home. For example in your living room area, think about going for a slightly larger soft rug. Something that will help bring that cosy feel. Then think about how your other furnishings pair together. A nice coffee table would also help it feel more like a living room. Then there are the smaller details, things like potted plants can really help add some subtle colour. In terms of window coverings for the whole house, here are my recommendations :

Thanks Schmidt Bristol for the suggestion! We are considering that, and will post some images below with something like that in mind.
@Elena-Alina Palaghianu We used floorplanner.com to help us see how the place would come together. Only realized later that we can export actual renders with it :)
Thank you E D. Below is the plan with metric measurements and with the areas planned by the developer. We're still deciding on the layout, thanks to the awesome suggestions Jonathan and arc3d offered.
Here is an update we worked on, with a different layout:

We added a mirror on the hallway wall, near the entrance door, and some mirrors around the bathroom door to help make the space look bigger.
The main issue we have with the design above is the difficult path to the bedroom (by the dining table). The bedroom will have a small walking closet, where we'll also put the washer and dryer.
