Little Greene White

Hi. We have a large attic room painted white and I love it. It’s now time to refresh the walls - so was thinking of getting a Little Greene White as I love their paints. I can see that they have Loft and Shirting but have heard that they aren’t too good compared to the colours. Has anyone had any experience of this???
Also I often see on EBay tins of Little Greene Hi White. This isn’t on any of the colour charts and I’m guessing it’s the base colour when they mix the paler colours. Can Hi White be used on its own? Hides anyone know what it’s like?

Hi, we have Shirting in a lot of places in our house. It’s a nice soft white - not brilliant white but also not creamy. I didn’t do the painting but am not aware of the white paint being less good than their colours, all our decorators have loved Little Greene paint.

Having said all that, Shirting is a very similar colour to Johnstons Trade White which we have on our ceilings and woodwork so you could save your money and use that :)

I don’t know about Hi White sorry!

Thank you - I think we are swaying towards Shirting!
We have Johnstons at the mo and it’s lasted well over the years, so tempted to use it again, apart from I’ve not found it particularly washable and certainly not that scrubbable. (And we did buy the more expensive scrubbable one!).

I really like the clean lines of your kitchen , it's beautiful and I would not add to much colour but you could use some accessories with green and white that would compliment this minimalistic kitchen. For example adding a bright green plant/s or an accessory the same colour as the clock on your top wall can put everything in a nice perspective!

We chose a (very expensive) Abode brass tap and it's great - it felt a bit too luxurious at first but it is less kitcheney than stainess steel. It is aerated so the water doesn't splash everwhere.

We're also looking at shirting, you mentioned Johnstons Trade White.

Do you mean the brilliant white ?

I believe the decorators recommended "COVAPLUS VINYL MATT" in Brilliant White.

Siena - I cant answer your question I’m afraid. But after much deliberation, we eventually settled with the Mylands white. It’s expensive (similar to Little Greene) - however I got it online from a paint supplier and found a good discount code.

Thanks so much Sarah. Did you end up going for the Mylands Pure white and did it look similar to Shirting?

I've never seen Mylands paint before so will defiantly consider it now.

Our current Brilliant white is a little stark atm.

It was the pure white - I can’t compare to shirting because although it was what I was considering, I didn’t even get a sample. Also after googling, I read some poor reviews of that colour - I love Little Greene paint, but apparently shirting doesn’t cover half as well as the other colours.
A colleague introduced me to Mylands and o would say it’s even nicer than the Little Greene. We got the Marble Matt finish which has marble in it and is very, very hard wearing.
As I say, it’s expensive- similar price to LG and Farrow and Ball (maybe even slightly more) - but I bought online with a discount code.
You can also get Mylands from Brewers...
