Cloakroom splashback or tiles advice

We've recently had our downstairs loo refitted. It's very tiny so we've squashed a basin and loo as on unit across the back wall. I'm in a dilemma what to do re tiles or a splashback. Do we need one or the other?

We looked into buying a bright blue glass splashback but when we went to the local glassstore (that specialise in just this) for a quote they quoted almost £300 for the glass. It was to be in the blue of the square tile seen in the photo and 40cm high and around all 3 walls. We were considering that until they said it was £250 more to fit unless our plumber did it. Our plumber declined as he hadn't done it before so the only alternative is to do it ourselves but getting the measurements right (with the two corners) is challenging as it's a big expense if we get it wrong.

Has anyone got any ideas how to make this room look better? I'm hopeless and very conservative as a result at decor but would like a bit more style than we have! If we tile how high should it be to be functional as well as stylish? I think our 40cm quote for the splashback would be too high.

A plain glass splashback of any colour that we offer customers for behind a hob (therefore 600 x 600mm) is £100. They're not particularly expensive, it’s just that some companies rip their customers off.

Hi catbox/emerald18 - your kitchen is absolutely stunning - I love it - mostly because your style is the same as mine - only the tiles I've chosen are Henley Cool from Topps Tiles (sage green/blue). I've also had a few moments of indecision but I've had a picture and sample of the tiles pinned up for months and I still love them. I'd chosen matt slab style kitchen door fronts but I might be convinced by your photo to change to Shaker. I am also going for the wood worktop but can't decide whether to have a Belfast sink or not. What sink did you choose? I also can't decide on a splashback, but like white painted brick + something more cleanable by the sink and hob. Once again, I love love love your kitchen - I'm pinning the photo of it up with my tiles picture in case I get future wobbles about my dream kitchen

Agree about the white door ...along with the floor ... Not sure .....if you are changing the lampshade .....light fitting ..... Simply ...things Like just changing cabinet handles ... changes a look .... Love the backslash ...yes really !!!! You.... (as already said ) Could just change the worktops ... Everything I guess is ..... Depending on your budget €€€€€€ But why .....change tooooo much ...... if it's not broken !!!! As the saying goes ... If it's not broke don't fix it ...... A house evoles into a Home overtime ... Maybe ... Live with it for a while .. You have a fab space !!!! Start making happy memories ...bake a cake Enjoy your new home Good luck .....

I quite like glass metro tiles. If you wanted a glass splashback most glass companies should be able to match a specific colour but make sure that is toughened. I wouldn't recommend mirror just because of the heat from the cooker. Hi there, personally I think a turquoise glass splash aback will be the best option. We have one ourselves in orange and we find it the best when it comes to cleaning. We have complimented ours with matching chairs and objects and I think it is really effective. I also think that the grey tiles would work but I would definitely recommend the splash back. How about Mosaic Tiles? relatively cheaper (depending on the material) and looks great.

Its all very smooth and shiny so maybe a good opportunity to bring in some texture or pattern with tiles. Probably cheaper and there are so many beautiful ones to choose from.

I’m a fan of tiles. You can go for little mosaics up to large format depending on your taste. I’ve got mosaic tiles behind my sink, but there are some gorgeous tiles you can choose from.
