Lighting Design Dilemma Hallways

What type of chandelier/lighting should I get?

We have a bit of an unusual double-height entrance hall area and want to replace the existing light with something with a bit more of a wow factor. The light is visible from the top 2 floors so needs to be impactful on entry and when you're upstairs.

What type of chandelier would you recommend? The gap is about 3m wide and 1m deep. We have been looking at crystal prism ones with a longer drop but not sure if this would be at odds with the glass banister as would cut the view in half?

Ideally want something that will diffuse light onto to walls to give more ambience. Preferably not too modern. Also want to stick as close to £1K as possible. Below are pics of space and light we're thinking about. Great to get some opinions!

It is important to check the cable length beforehand. Many lights come with adjustable ones. Hope this helps.

i agree with most suggestions above. but dont remove your current rug because u can actually layer a faux fur rug over it. plus your rug has amazing rustic colours and u can use them as accents. maybe over time you may invest in new pillowcases/quilt covers complementing the colours of the rug..peach/mint/cream/ to name a few. may also add some mettalic cushions combo. you can always take them off if you want that summery feel in which switch to sweet pastels. a lot of pillows are important! lol! i'd get rid of the plant. the dressing table n side tables could be black (lacquer may be interesting)with gold knobs (think art deco). dressing table should be move to the side so you get more light and space near the window. maybe mirror can be placed against the window so ull also get natural light when you're admiring your reflection. ur room has an eclectic feel to it.. its great just needs some rearrangments thats all.

Absolutely don't swap them. You have very good reasons to picture them where you have. It's where they belong. In an open space like this, you can get away with a chandelier in the lounge as long as you have one over the dining table as well. If there's only one, stick with the dining room. That leaves the warm, elegant and relaxing light for lounging by and the double-ended rectangular light for better efficiency working in the kitchen. I absolutely love that pendant lamp, btw. Beautiful.

My husband is the same! Just my opinion but as they're both chandeliers I'm not convinced it will work. Could you get a cheap light for by the woodburner? Either something hung lower than the chandelier or semi-flush in a different style. Maybe something contemporary as a contrast? I know that's not ideal re budget but you may be able to get a bargain in the sales. Do try just holding the light there though when the room is built and take a pic as i may be wrong..

I quite like glass metro tiles. If you wanted a glass splashback most glass companies should be able to match a specific colour but make sure that is toughened. I wouldn't recommend mirror just because of the heat from the cooker. Hi Kat, what a gorgeous space. It reminds me of this project of ours…

We staggered the height of Tom Rossau TR7 pendants to create a chandelier effect that can be seen from the different levels of the house.

Hi Kat - with the budget you have in mind, having a wow factor plus taking into consideration the drop it may worth considering a crystal chandelier like the one below. It's definitely not super modern, but it is very elegant and would look exquisite in your hallway.
