what colour windows?
we are getting our existing white timber windows replaced as well as having an extension. The extension will have bifolds and we are considering them in either anthracite or black. They will all be aluminium with slim frames. What do people think about anthracite or black for the rest of the house?
This photo shows a very similar house with anthracite windows. We have the same combination of tile and brick. Do people think this looks ok or would white or black be better? We don't want to put people off when we come to resell.
What about internally? I am tempted to go white internally with just anthracite in the more modern extension. What do people think?

Comments (11)This might sound a bit like being on the fence given the advice you've had already... How about a mid to dark grey ( less contrast than black), RAL 7022 is a favourite of mine (warmer grey), or look at a green grey, as something that will have the colour of the olive, with a good amount of contrast against the white render, (you won't have the warm rich colours of the brickwork as in the photos above (which the olive looks good against)). If you are painting the timber windows you would do well to look at microporous opaque stains to reduce your on-going maintenance. We're planning on replacing the windows with Aluclad windows and I was looking for suggestions on colour combinations. Initially, I was thinking that I'd repaint the house white and go with Anthracite Grey frames. However I'm a little worried that it's very fashionable at the minute and might date in the next couple of years. I've also seen a few houses lately with lighter coloured windows which looked good. One had a grey with what looks to be almost an olive undertone with the walls painted a deep creamy shade. I'd be really interested to hear what colour combinations other people have gone for and whether I risk dating the house as '2016' with a white/dark grey/anthracite combination. From front door through to kitchen I want tiles I am thinking oak wooden floors so my question... What color interior doors do I choose? Comments (2)I'm doing something very similar at the moment and I decided to go for a cold ivory colour with the windows divided into same size panels and a grey front door. The frames also have a foil finish that gives them a faux wood texture. I decided against the grey frames, as much as I love them, as I think they will probably date in the same way the pale green ones I see around have too....See More

4 years agoI would use a Color Muse to measure the colour of your brick, plot where the brick lies on the colour wheel and then find a related colour,,,It would take only a few minutes. I will try and find an example,,
