I’m in need of some help in deciding whether to add a cowhide rug under my dinning table without it making the living area too busy (see attached photos)
I would probably say as you already have a rug framing the sofa area, that adding one in such close proximity will drawer your eye away from the focus point of the room (the sofa), however the fact that the cow hide rug is so different in terms of shape and texture - you might get away with it as a nice splash of personality! (which is what I think you are also trying to add?!)
The table area does feel like it needs something to lift it - if you are nervous about going ahead with the rug could you do this by using different coloured seat cushions, or a statement centrepiece such as a plant in an interesting pot?
Can you buy one that can be tried and taken back if needed ? As I think once you see it you will know ... also liked previous suggestion of echoing the rug you already have.
