living room redundant corner
hi we have a front living room with a bay window that we have no idea of how to decorate. youll see from the photos there are two sofas that result in an empty corner. any advice on how to nake the room not so stark but not too cluttered. thanks

Double doors at the back & at the front. tv going on wall beside open arch stove in that corner also. I'm thinking of separating the room into two areas. Comments (0)I'd love some advice on how to arrange my living room furniture, starting with a completely blank canvas. The room will be used as a child-free retreat, mainly in the evenings for reading, watching movies and some entertaining. The window faces south east so it is bright during the day and looks over the front garden. We will probably get built ins around the fireplace to store books. I am thinking about getting a corner sofa oriented towards the tv on the right side of the fireplace but I am worried then that the wall opposite the window will just be blank. I'd like to put a chair there too but when you are entering the room I think it will appear to stick out a lot. What could I put on that wall? Could I orient the room the opposite way by putting the tv on the left of the fireplace or would that feel strange entering the room between couches? Would it be better if the door opened the opposite way? What size should the sofa be, given the room is 4.1x4.2m? I have attached a diagram of the room layout and what I am thinking currently. 4 years agoMy first thought was a table in that corner with a lamp and a plant. Much like Carolina’s suggestion! You need some artwork or a mirror too, and a rug, you can’t beat a good size rug to cosy things up. I’m also wondering about a navy wall, say the back wall where the sofa and arc lamp are. It will create a lovely cosiness and navy looks fab with tan leather.

4 years agoHa, I thought it might have to do with a dog or dogs :-) But you might think that a fighting cushion isn't important, since it's just temporary, but you'll be amazed by the effect it has when you remove or change items that are really not going together. Instant calmness.

4 years agoI think you have great taste, judging by what you've chosen so far. For a coffee table, I would personally choose something that isn't tan coloured. Just to break things up and make it more interesting. Maybe something like this?

4 years agoWe have a dog and cats and have this rug. It's supersoft and goes lovely with the colours of your floor and furniture.
