Bathroom design dilemma
After 30 years my bathroom is in need of a makeover. My husband is now having difficulties getting in and out of a bath to have a shower and we were thinking of replacing the bath with a shower instead. we only have 1 bathroom in the home we live in a bungalow so our bedroom and bathroom are all on same level. I have posted some pics to give you a idea. To replace the leave the bath as is is the best option as I can't find a solution to replace bath with a shower as the window is in the way. I do not really want a corner shower unit and would love to have a walk in or wet room option but can't seem to find the right layout please help any suggestion would be great

Comments (2)Hello Edel, Well you are in the fortunate place having a loo and shower downstairs.. I am sure this might become useful when the boys are older.. So if you wanted more wardrobe space.. This doesn't have to involve wall to wall cupboards.. You could have free standing wardrobes.. A bigger bathroom would mean you could have double wall hung sinks and large walk in shower and a separate bath.. Wall hung loo as well.. Or possibly you could create a wet room style shower and loo and separate walk in closet.. accessed from your bedroom. Keep a bathroom next door.. Comments (5)If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!...See Morebathroom layout dilemma

4 years agoWe have just completed a full bungalow refurb and wanted to future-proof the bathroom. We opted for a large walk-in shower with a non slip tray and 10mm safety glass screen.
The shower goes across a window so we had a new, smaller window fitted with opaque glass.

4 years agoThis is the finished product - hope it helps with your deliberations! I would have preferred a wet room effect with shower tray sunk and tiled over, but the slightly raised tray was a cheaper option.

4 years agoI like Jonathan's idea. it will give a lot of light and the room would feel quite spacious. you always can protect the window by installing a frosted glass shield over it. it will also give you privacy.
