help with mock panelling

Hoping someone can help here!

I am wanting to do some mock panelling on the wall behind my bed, similar to in the photo below but it will be just 1 square that then has some nice detailing at the top if that makes sense.

is there somewhere you can buy kits of the wood strips to be able to do this?

DIY stores may have it, but I've also found this website for you https://albadecor.com/en/11-chair-rails

Ebay has some too. Look for decorative or self adhesive wall moulding

I think the room could be much more elegant if you dry walled the end of the pony wall up to the ceiling which would give you a more centered fireplace which could then turn into a focal point with a proper mantel. Right now the set-up looks sort of busy and odd, especially with all the books in the built-in. If you chose to do that I would get rid of the bookcase. If you want to keep the current set up, beefing up the wood on the mantel as Scott Design suggested would be an inexpensive way to improve its appearance. I would also remove the books and put in a few art objects in the bookcase.

Your old gold chair color is a bit hard to match with today's color palettes which usually use a softer gold. Have you thought about taking a blue into the dining room? Blue and gold is a very elegant combination and will compliment the mahogany floor and table. You could look for a stripe or a damask for the drapes or a wallpaper that would incorporate your chosen colors. An oriental rug would be a good way to tie in colors.

I’ve seen similar panelling strips at B&Q and other diy establishments. They are usually displayed in cubby holes lying flat, so you only see the end shape, if that makes sense!
