Bathroom dilemma
Hi all, I'm having a bathroom challenge, I've spent days looking for tiles and I'm totally uninspired, although I did end up ordering some for my kitchen but maybe that should go on Patrina's post :)
We are removing the cupboard and installing a shower. To do so means taking up the floor (and more costly what sits on it to do so!). The bathroom is very old (25 years!), I've just painted it etc since we moved in but we wanted to change the floor anyway. We will likely change the console for a smaller vanity with storage (re-using the existing taps as the shower is still in production) and may repeat the cane from the mirror on the front of the cabinets.
Does anyone have any ideas for floor and shower tiles? The panelling is painted in railings btw (it reads as much bluer in the room but my iPad is old). In theory it could be re-painted as I did it myself and it's not a perfect job but would rather avoid if possible.
I would welcome any ideas, the only thing I definitely don't want is real encaustic tiles as I have them elsewhere and would like to still be able to fling the hoover round this room and clean it with flash etc! Ideas for bath colour also appreciated. Thanks

PS i forgot to say i don't want the shower tiles to contrast too much, the panelling is what I love so want that to stand out :)

Do you want dark tiles for the shower area then?

Comments (2)I think mirrored walls are very odd, and were popular for appearing to increase the square footage of a room, or bring in the illusion of more light because of all the reflecting. I think you should buy a beautifully-framed mirror and put it over the sink. So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. 4 years agoGorgeous bathroom Minnie. With the floor, have you considered sheet vinyl? Forget the vinyl of old, modern vinyl is tougher, easy to clean and non slip, so great for bathrooms. I’m thinking the look of Etruscan tiles without the hassle! In the shower cubicle I have a love of hexagonal tiles from white through to the deepest black. I saw these green tiles and think they will really tone in with your bathroom. Black tiles are dramatic, but if you have hard water they do not look good for long. Do you like fish scale tiles - they are a bit marmite and not for everyone, but I love them. Here’s lots of pics to confuse you even more!

4 years agoLovely bathroom Minnie. I love the panelling and how the colour makes it look so dramatic:-). If it were me I’d go for something quite simple and light for contrast and to give the room a lift. So something like a pale wood effect perhaps....or a pale stone effect...something natural looking anyway. As for shower enclosure I’ve no idea, I can be hours pouring over photos for ideas:)). But I found a few inspo images and like how the tiles in the 1st pic pick up the light. Pink bath! I think you’re on to something:). X

Love the idea of a red/pink/coral patterned tile for the shower area

Some of these images and tiles are absolutely stunning and I haven't seen a few of these bathrooms before! I love that wet plaster colour bath. Beano, ignore the sink style but I was thinking of something like this for the vanity with brass knobs. Before we decided to do the shower (Xmas chaos again) we were going to take the fretwork out of the cupboard and replace with cane webbing and then I'd been looking for a wallpaper similar to this to go on the ceiling and just a rug to lighten the floor. I had the look in my head and now it's gone to pot :(
