Front door colour advice please !

Hello all

please give us some suggestions for front door colour !

Windows are balmoral grey 7030ral

house is red brick geound floor and first floor is rendered white with black mock Tudor beams ! We are thinking something different but beautiful - not keen on balmoral grey for the door - any suggestions ? the door is very big with large glass side panels Thanks everyone !!!!

To get advice, more specific to your home, it would probably be helpful if you can share some photos showing the door and the front of your house.

Sage green or taupe for a gentle colour. Or purple, blue, red, black or yellow for more of a statement. I can’t find a colour that doesn’t look good with grey and red brick!

Just wanted to add something regarding the steps since I had also asked for advice on them: we had steps installed in slate, but unfortunately they did not turn out to look very nice, so will need to get redone . Was wondering if we should also incorporate some of the bricks seen on the porch, perhaps as risers covered by blue limestone or slate just to tie everything together?

Hi Becky I'm not sure what style you are looking for but try www.solidor.co.uk These are the best low maintenance front doors you can get with lots of options on colours, inside and out. We are one of their installers in Colchester and have four on display, if we are near enough pop in, if not just find a local installer. if you are after timber we supply Bereco, again go to their website, not cheap but beautiful. We also can supply Grey windows, not in 50 shades, but in 3, so you can have from light to dark. Anything else just ask. Regards Joe

A few things I would change from experience...instead of a single and double door I would spend the extra money and put in a bifold corner section...would open up the space so much more. as for the kitchen...completely flip your design...put your breakfast bar closer to the window...make it large and multipurpose with the hob in it and then put your main band of cabinets either left, right or behind? We have recently restructured our existing cabinets to this layout and put in new countertops and it works far better than before!

Our builder suggested we get rid of the sittingroom walls and leave only the wall between the sittingroom and kitchen so we would in effect be walking from front door into the open plan sittingroom room. What do you guys think? We will not be having the stairs yet until we convert the attic in the future

RAL 7030 comes up as slightly purpley red and also slightly greenish on my screen, it can't be both. A more saturated version of the same colour may work, but you need to decide which way it leans first. Most greys are not neutral.

Ultimately the question is how do you want to feel when you open your front door? What impression do you want to give to guests, friends and family anyone who comes to your door? Colours all have different meanings to each of us. A bright yellow door signifies happiness and bubbly personality but that may not be for you if you want to an elegant feel to your front door. So it all comes down to how you want your home to feel? Uplifting, elegant, bright?

we are thinking of a darker shade of ral 7030 -( 7030 is a medium brownish grey )

Black would be in keeping, quite traditional. Or perhaps a nice grey, green would be good to tie in with the garden Card Room Green by Farrow & Ball? Very on trend at the moment.

I like al the ideas but unfortunately we can only have one colour! It’s going to match the windows ( hopefully ) ral 7030

hope we have made the right decision ! Too late to change now
