Bedrooms Design Dilemma

Attic Bedroom design

Hello,
This is my bedroom photo in the new house and I am struggling to understand where to keep the bed. I really want to use the flat wall for putting the television so I want to use the right hand side attic wall for bed. But I am struggling to think how will I fit an upholstered bed there. Will it be a really low floor bed? Any design ideas please?

What's the size of the room? And could you post the other wall aswell?

Hi Pratik, This is an interesting dilemma with attic bedrooms and low slopping roofs causing limited furniture arrangements. When planning a room layout you always need to consider how the room will be used, eg is it predominantly a guest room used only a couple of weeks a year or it is a full time bedroom? Does there need to be room for clothes storage, work desk etc?

In terms of your TV, you mention you would like to have it on the flat wall however maybe a adjustable TV bracket may give you a more flexible approach to watching TV in bed rather than static wall mounted.

You can buy very low platform/ottoman beds however you should also consider how laying in a bed with the slopping ceiling close to your head will feel every morning and also if the ceiling is very low then how the bedside lighting and bedside cabinets will fit?

I would personally have the bed on the left hand wall and make a feature of that and find an alternative solution to where the TV will sit.

Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Top it with a thin piece of glass ( Pier 1) and away you go.Don't be afraid of colour or small pattern in a small space, as you are going for the impact. Have fun! Shaila
