I've Decided To Go Green
Happy New Year Houzzers, I trust that you had a great Christmas and that the year has started off positive for you. So as usual I have been decorating over the festive break. I did a quick physical mock up of the bookshelves that I will be installing in our office/reading/homework room to appease my husband see pics(All now removed and awaiting carpet) I have decided to paint my Haberdashery drawers Green as they are not in great shape and my hubby started sanding them without my knowledge so no going back. My dilemma is what green? there are so many greens around. The wall it will sit against is Dulux Steel symphony 1. Would really appreciate you green suggestions. I have chosen some Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen knobs to go with the drawers. All the top sides and bottom of the shelves will be finished off to give a built-in look. As always thanks you in advance.

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoLooking at your lovely room, I think a jewel like emerald green would look good. Are the blue chairs staying in the room? Every time I see deep blue and emerald green together it lifts my spirits.

Comments (12)Paint the wood floor with a flooring paint. If you want to be creative, you can create your own special design. I've had painted wood floors in a previous home and everyone loved them. If you get tired of it, paint them a different color! Saves doing rip out and better for the environment! My floors held up well. I was surprised. Comments (13)Yea I was looking at 'Petrol' colour which is a kind of Teal blue. However, it's for the entire ground floor so my plan was to go neutral and add colour instead on walls and with accessories, which will help when it comes to selling the house to renting it out as not everyone is crazy about bold pattern and colour. Comments (1)Hi, I think any of those 3 could look good, with white elsewhere as a contrast and bringing in some bright warm colours with cushions, throws etc. We repainted our house last year and used Farrow and Ball colours - Elephants Breath is very popular and looks great in our living room, we used their darker greys in our sitting room and hall. 4 years agoHappy New Year Patrina. I think green is a great colour and will look great with the green decorative objects and plants you already have. If it were my room I'd probably go for one of these kind of colours. They'd look great with the splashes of gold.
I must admit they do look a little different on my swatch book to on screen. Good luck with the makeover

4 years agoRoom looks fab already Patrina:) I know that feeling with green paint samples, I’ve already gone through loads. Initially I’d have gone for a greyish green, Valspar has one appropriately called ‘greenish grey’ (R276B) its a similar colour to my cabinet what I painted some time back (pic shows it in artificial light so it looks a bit yellowed). I was very tempted to use it in my kitchen but used a darker green instead. A deep jewel green like Sonia’s first example would look awesome.

4 years ago@rachelmidlands I had a look at Valspar colours and I'm actually loving the green on the landing page of their site for greens but I don't actually know what its called. I will be poping in this morning on a quest to find out what its called.

4 years ago@Patrina, just had a look and on the page before it shows the colour card..it’s Eagles Mark R225A. More like a grass colour green....I like it:) Took a screenshot.

4 years ago@Jules Mc I have painted the window wall white, the other two are Steel Symphony 1. @Rachelmidlands I did look at Eagle's Mark but I have decided on Privet Hedge R248A in Satin see pic. Now for some epic sanding, priming and painting :-) As usual Houzzers thank you. I will post pics once complete.

4 years ago@Sonia I entertained the idea of decupage with this paper but the green was too dark for what I wanted. will have to see how they look together.
