I have a contemporary kitchen and would like to give the kitchen a modern look. I am considering to paint the kitchen, since it is very costly to replace the whole kitchen. Does anyone have some suggestions on the type of colour to use, the best method to use and maybe suggest me colours and brands that can deliver the best quality when painting the kitchen?
I suggest you paint the units and change the handles of doors and drawers to give it a refreshed look. The colour depends on how you want the room to feel - do you want it to feel warm and bright or edgy and modern? Your kitchen seems to have quite a lot of light so you could go for dark or light colours.
Let me know how you want the room to feel and I can make the appropriate suggestion.
Hi, This looks like a perfectly good kitchen and so a professional paint job would be a perfect solution and completely transform the space. Your painter will be able to suggest paint but from experience an acrylic based paint is durable and scrubbable. Little Green do very good eco paints which are durable, many used to advise oil based paints for kitchens but they are highly toxic. The other option if you want a very modern look is to replace the doors completely, companies such as super front can do this. New handles/hardware will elevate your new look. I hope this helps Helen
Johnstone’s colour match is fabulous. I bought an ikea kitchen with ash veneer doors and painted them with a copy of Little Greene’s Slaked Lime Dark. It looks great, was much cheaper than buying actual LG, and once the initial curing period is done, very resilient - even against dog claws. Was a lot of work, though—I painted everything myself and by the time it was done I was sick of the sight of a paintbrush.
