Comments (4)Hi @mjdpower, My suggestion is to go to a couple of floor specialist and ask as they may come up with something different. Whatever you do keep in consideration the size of the room and think on a long term: a poor quality finish could effect your property price in a space as important as the kitchen. I will try something that allow you to go back to your original tiles floor if things do not work out the way you want them to go. A cheap way is to cover the tiles with vinyl and here is how to do it: http://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-install-vinyl-flooring-over-ceramic-tiling#b the adhesive should not stain or damage the tiles (ask the manufacture before doing it anyway!) and you have a large choice of design and colours. Paint tiles could be another option, not my favourite but an option. I found this blog where Curry Kay describe step by step how she's did it. It's American USA but it will give you an idea to start with. https://currykay.wordpress.com/2011/03/01/powder-room-brand-new-floor-painting-tile-tutorial/comment-page-1/ Be aware that the kitchen is a high usage room so the paint will take a good bashing and may wear off. Plus the final look on a large surface like the kitchen area could be not as good as on a splash back or smaller vertical surface. I hope it helps! Have fun!...See Moreback splash/ tiling
Comments (12)Don't be swerved away from hand painted tiles! The best way to add colour and originality (I make hand painted tiles so I may be biased). I would take the tiles to just under the bottom shelf, and up to the hod. We have had tiles behind our cooker for 21 years, and we don't find the grout staying clean a problem. By the way - I think subway tiles will look dated in a few years, as anything bang on trend tends to do....See MoreHow to make a tile wall look like a painted wall
Comments (0)I need to tile a couple of walls in my bathroom which in the original design were meant to be painted. The painted walls would look better, but it's not possible now. So is there any tips on how to make a tiled wall look more like a painted one. I was thinking perhaps by using large matt tiles with grouting of the same colour? The colour is white for the tiles....See MoreHelp...how do I fix this bathroom?!
Comments (1)My partner and I picked tiles we thought would work but that we both hate (mostly the beige coloured ones inside the shower/steam room). There weren't enough of the blue tiles in the shop on the back wall to do whole shower. It's our fault and now we're wondering what we can do to basically change the beige mosaic tiles?Someone suggested tile paint, but I hear it looks terrible over the grout areas. Also niche shelves I requested for inside the shower room were not put in, which I really wanted. I'm upset they're not in and am nearly considering doing that wall again to get them in. Someone suggested glass shelves, though I'm not sure they're safe in a steam room?I almost want to do the whole thing again. 😩 It's hideous....See MoreE D
