Downstairs Toilet
I desperately want to add storage (loo rolls, cleaning products and ideally medicine cabinet out of reach) to this space as well as decorative touches but am completely at a loss. It’s quite narrow, and the window is offset. I don’t think along one of the longer walls would work as it’s narrow and you’d bang into it but think it would look odd having a cabinet right next to the window. Under sink might work but don’t want to change any fittings. Any bright ideas please? Also ignore the bland decoration we’ve inherited this and will retile and refloor at some point but not a priority just now. Thank you!!

4 years agoYour tiles look just fine! Perhaps add a shelf underneath the sink along the wall, for your soap (the little sink is too full). And a shelf over the window to place a few nice baskets on? And paint your medicine cabinet the same color as the walls and (in my opinion) it will look just fine next to the window.

I think you could simply opt for corner shelves on the left side next to the window. In addition, if you paint the wall the colour "rinq" advised, wooden shelves would match the vibe perfectly.

Comments (3)Wow, I really like this design and the rest of the house....really has a lovely flow to it and is very bright. My only concern with opening up the original living room to the hallway would be that the existing house is poorly insulated and would leave the front room cold during the winter. I imagine the existing front room as a dynamic room in that the doors to the dining room can be closed, a stove fire turned on and it would be a quiet reading/relaxing zone in the house. Comments (4)Three bedrooms will always be worth more than 2. If there is enough headroom I would take loft stairs up above the main staircase - from the cupboard position. Leave a landing and corridor to the bathroom and partition off a tiny bedroom/nursery/study. A lot depends on which way your roof is pitched. I would get a few loft companies in to tell you what is possible within a limited budget. If and when you get the money it might be possible to close the existing back door and refigure the kitchen units to allow a lobby and door opening out toilet and use the toilet door as your back door. Large tiles do make a room feel bigger as the pattern is less busy however I've seen the hex tiles in small bathrooms and they seem to work as your inspiration pic shows. I would probably lose the flowers though if I'm honest. Do you want the window for light or ventilation? Could a decent extractor be sufficient? I'm thinking that back ŵall could look quite busy. Is there any opportunity to change the layout? Moving soil pipes can be a little costly but could the sink be moved although ideally the loo would be hidden round the corner. Comments (73)I think it looks great so far. Many of the ads for claw foot tubs, and magazines, show them with encaustic/cement tile and plain white surround. Also, you did something creative and attractive with the tile layout. I love the nickel shine of your clawfoot legs too. If you can maybe get a corner shelf on one side of the wall, you'll have a place for soap, candle or bubble bath. And maybe hotel towel holder on another wall to get the height up. 4 years agoYou can utilise the space above the door. you can put shelves or a cabinet with doors there. it wont affect the lighting and will be quite out of reach.
you also can get a medicine cabinet of the same size of the window, so it will visually balance.
definitely can add some shelving on the left side of the window
also, ikea has quite shallow bathroom cabinets, or ask a carpenter to fit you you some cabinets behind the toilet and under the sink.

4 years agoSome really good options up there. You also have the option to get a slimline cupboard
to go on the left hand side or some floating shelves to keep toilet rolls on or a decorative plant.
