Living room wall color, decor and curtains Dilemma
Hi. We decided to repaint the walls from the color of magnolia, but we can’t decide what color goes with dark furniture? There is little sunlight in the room. I would like the combination of Loft Eco, and rustic style but I don’t understand design at all.
Please advise any design ideas/colour schemes, layouts massively welcome.

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoBlack leather sofas can be very difficult to decorate around. I assume you want to keep them and the magnolia walls, in which case you need to accessorise and cosy up the look. A nice big rug in beige/cream/tan, and cushions and throws in those sort of calm natural shades will look nice. You also need artwork on the walls and plants, whether real or faux. It’s these accessories that really make a room. These photos show the look I mean.

Comments (1)You'll need to deepen the wall color for the contrast you want. One overhead light is not enough for your dark corner. That is what we call "ambient" light - just a way to turn something on so you don't fall over furniture when entering in the dark. You'll need both accent and task lighting - lamps. Your current furniture is very large and is eating up this small space. Before you replace it with an equally large "suite" consider mixing it up with a pair of chairs and an apartment sized sofa. 4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoAlways buy the expensive items first such as sofas and tables, then decorate walls around them, Then you can buy accessories. I have Egyptian Cotton in my bedroom and hall, stairs and landing. A nice, calm beige with a tiny hint of pink. Here’s a couple of pics. I’m not good at taking pictures so please excuse the poor quality!

4 years agoSo you get sun for a good part of the day which means the room is quite bright. The black sofas are light sapping, so if you are keeping them you need the throws and cushions to help brighten them up. I rather like your dark wood furniture and they will be improved with plants to give a bit of a colonial or tropical vibe. You could wallpaper one wall in something a bit tropical to add lovely greens. Some are quite colourful so you can pick colours out for your accessories. In which case a nice soft white on the rest of the walls would look great. The wall behind the tv and table looks like a good wall to wallpaper. You can’t deny it gives you plenty of colour!
