Living Room revamp
Comments (13)This is going to almost have to be an eclectic mix...which can work. I would cover the glass doors with curtains or roll-up shades/blinds for sure, on the living room side. Could be sheer or gauze type material. Or even roman shades in a patterned fabric. I would then find a very large ornate mirror to go over the fireplace. You could either distress one yourself, or probably find one that is already distressed. To be quite honest, the wallpaper you have on the fireplace wall looks like it could work as is. Not exactly sure what the color is...(bad computer monitor). Get one or two overstuffed slipcovered chairs with skirts. Get some throw pillows that are in the same color range as those to use on leather couch. Maybe a thick floral rug and one of those industrial bin carts for a coffee table. Go antiquing and junk store shopping...find old flower vases or ornate silver pitchers and fill them with flowers....See MoreUpcycle mental block! Can see potential. Help please?
Comments (7)Dear Éilíse Sullivan, the mahogany wardrobe looks like a great project! The image is too small for me to see the details of it; it looks like has glass/metal door at the top part and design details on the draws. If you send me a better quality image and with the door closed I can visualised it for you in any other colour you like if it helps. Replacing part of the furniture (glass) with solid panels covered in wall paper or fabric, using decoupage for the inside of the drawers or muted colours on the outside and brights on the inside ... are all possibility depending in which room you want to place it and what you are going to use it for. Are you going to do it for yourself, just for fun or to sell/present? I would paint the back panel in a darker colour, also the inside of the wardrobe part and all the horizontal and vertical straight lines to frame the different units: draws, 'open shelf' cabinet at the top and door. I would go for wall paper on the inside of the draws, something sympathetic with the darker tone on the back panel ... the handle can stay or be replaced (I need a closer look); they can really give a wist to the furniture if changed. For the choice of colours ... it really depend on where it goes and what you want to do with it. The room's images you posted are quite different in style. You could try to 'blend' the piece in to the room's design scheme by choosing complementary colours or go the opposite and bring in a bold statement. I like bold statements! I found this link with fab images that may help you see how a furniture with more details then a plain one will looks once painted: http://www.pippajamesoninteriors.co.uk/2011/design-post/a-guide-to-shabby-chic-furniture-painting/ Also have a look at this company https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jay-Co/100811059987662?sk=timeline it may inspire you to take a different direction! Have fun and please post an 'after' pic when done, really curios to see the final result! Elena Jackson - Interior & Design...See MoreHelp with bedroom colour
Comments (12)Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well....See MoreTub be or not tub be...
Comments (73)I think it looks great so far. Many of the ads for claw foot tubs, and magazines, show them with encaustic/cement tile and plain white surround. Also, you did something creative and attractive with the tile layout. I love the nickel shine of your clawfoot legs too. If you can maybe get a corner shelf on one side of the wall, you'll have a place for soap, candle or bubble bath. And maybe hotel towel holder on another wall to get the height up. Congratulations and thanks for sharing....See MoreAMB
