Leaking roof HELP

So, dumb and dumber who owned the house before us, drilled a hole in the roof to put the aerial cable and did not fill in the hole. Rain is coming through, for however long, soaking the beams and has started leaking into the ceiling below.
Please tell me I can just plug up the hole and dry it out and that's done. We can't afford a new roof :'(

Aerial cables are usually tacked to the outside of the house and then through a hole in the wall of the room in question. You could get an aerial fitter to remove that cable and fit a new cable for you? It’s not expensive. I’m no expert but maybe the hole can be filled with cement?

Happy to help ! I'm only a short swim away in England !! I think if you want a truly opulent cream for the kitchen cabinets - I'd suggest you get a colour match for the range ! It looks a very creamy cream ! Think it could be stunning ! Then have slightly lighter walls and tiles to keep the room feeling light and airy ! If you have walnut stain for your worktop on your island , I'd suggest using that on your exposed legs if you go for the dipped paint look on the table and chairs ! Tough question! I'd think about, first, consulting with a lighting design professional before going ahead. There might be a way to run an insulated sleeve from the source point, through the insulation and the sheetrock. Another possibility might be to "gang" or bundle the lights. This would not eliminate the need to open the insulation up but it would cut down on the number of openings you'd need. Finally, if there's no other alternatives for you, use LED surface mounted fixtures. There are a huge range of designs which could work for you.

It small But your cabin sink unit is a good idea as you have storage space and it looks neat. I have changed my bath many times to shower unit and it has leaked every time, some times it has been the plumbers fault or bad design then it was a visitor who let the water spill while showering the last time it flooded the insurers wanted the bathroom TANKED! meaning waterproof walls and floors. This is done by an experienced plumber contractor of repute! as the insurers said too many claims from too many people with bad waterproofing. the insurer said they would not insure again or any other clients who had not got their bathroom water proofed by expert plumber fitters. SO I have gone back to the Bath with a shower enclosed and found it tops for waterproof.

which roof is best for skylight?

Hi Rita, it depends on what type of skylight you want to go with. A velux or Keylite requires a minimum 15 degrees pitch wheras a coxdome or rooflight will work best on a flat roof. With a Velux you can add manual or motorised blind sto help with shading and heat control which is a big advantage. Hope This Helps..

Hi Emma. No expert either and sorry if I’m being the bearer of bad news but it looks like you’ve got that spray foam insulation on the underside of your roof tiles which can making roof tile replacements very difficult as it sets rock hard. As you have a leak and water is getting inside the roof void then this can also create extra problems as the water vapor cannot evaporate as easily and therefore create damp conditions which (in worse case scenario) can lead to rotting timbers. With regards the bodged aerial cable then I think Sonia is right and that it should be tacked to exterior and come in through the wall. As to repair I’ve no idea but I’d definitely get an opinion from a professional roofing firm. However a friend of mine managed to bodge a repair by inserting some sheets of lead in between the tiles, not sure a roofer would recommend that tho :)
