Hi all, I've ordered a dark navy velvet sofa. I am also changing my fireplace. Planning a black slate hearth, black and white pattern tiles on the inside and black stove. Painting walls a soft grey. would appreciate any advice on this colour combination. might it be too much! Thanks, Jennifer
Sounds lovely! I love dark velvet sofas, so cosy and plush. To stop it looking a bit flat you can add colourful or textured cushions and a patterned rug.
I agree with Sonia - I think you need to add the colour in the accessories. If you have a look at my profile I've styled a dark navy sofa with blush pink cushions and it works really well.
I don't know if you can do this, but you could change the colour of the patterned tiles to a navy blue. It will feel less heavy.
Adding metallics also helps as it adds warmth and bounces off light.
