Hi, Would you please help me choose the colour of a carpet for my bedroom?.

Besides, I am intending to add a muslin curtain behind the opaque satin one. What do you think and what colour shall I use?

Once again, carolins has taken the words right out of my mouth. I sometimes feel like a crusader for entertainment centers and lowering art! You have a dynamic room with so much potential. Your wall could look amazing with the armoire carolins has pictured above. Of course, lower your sconces so that they're a about 4" below the top of the armoire and about 7" from the sides. Your fireplace should be your focal point with your wall being strong but not competing. Rooms get personality from smaller accents but you have too many little things that take away from the great colored pillows and the picture. Be careful not to hang things in straight lines--top of pictures should never line up with tops of doors or curtain rods. I wish we could see your fireplace in another photo. Chairs should form conversation groups with the couch like Carolyn has outlined. I like your chandelier but you might think about lowering it or moving it above a dining table--it looks rather lost way up there.

Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Your window is a main accent. And you need to make a start from its. I recommend you to do the follow: - open your window as much as possible. This will make the room larger; - decorate the window by asymmetrical or direct curtain (examples are below), starting right from the ceiling. It is best to use a solid color textile; - if your cabinet is not particularly necessary, I would have replaced it on the floor lamp; - on the other side, you can fold the high stack of books and use them as a decorative stand; - make a picture in passe-partout with glass and dark gray baguette frame. Add to it a vertical series of small monochrome photographs (eg sepia), and also complete passe-partout in pastel tones; - fur pillows should be replaced by textile pillows with dark gray graphic pattern; - it will be better the other pictures on the walls to remove
