Comments (14)Thanks everyone. AMN - The lighting in the photo isn't great - the walls and venetian blinds are both white and the green is a wallpaper. I've a TV on one side and radiator on the other side of the wall but I do like the idea of painting it a different colour. What do you mean by "because the sectional is too big for the space already" thanks! Dar Eckert - like your suggestion of introducing another colour, I was thinking about aubergine but again it could be over modern and not the slightly warm vibe I'm looking for - what do you think? Carolyn - thanks for posting the rug, going to look it up and see about shipping costs etc to Ireland from that site. Comments (81)Hi Lisa, nice sofa. I had a red sofa for 10 years and loved it ( though mine was fabric) I've changed the kitchen/ living room and it stuck out like a sore thumb. I gave in and put in a grey leather sectional one and I must say it's much easier to decorate around. Are you in Ireland? Have you heard of the 1933 company, they have very nice suites. Comments (7)I think as well as adding life to the room with a different wall colour, you need to add some textures. But you have a great base to work from - well chosen sofa, floor, fireplace, etc. Great! The colour I would suggest you use in this space is called Sedgemoor by a company called Francesca’s Paints. I know you can’t get them over there in Ireland, but I have posted a picture of a room painted in this shade - perhaps you can get Dulux to colour match if you like it? You could then add a few cushions in natural colours, like dark brown, and possibly something like this from John Lewis: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-luce-cushion/p519627?colour=Blackberry. I would also add some pattern/texture/interest into the scheme through cushions - I really love the idea of layering up a pile of these, like in the photo on the Heal’s website (also posted): http://www.heals.co.uk/content/ebiz/heals/invt/583041/583041_l1.jpg. Then another thing you could do is add a rug, I would probably go for a textured brown one like this tonal rug from Habitat http://www.habitat.co.uk/mohit-large-brown-tonal-rug-170-x-240cm/rugs//fcp-product/24124. Comments (5)Hi, I love Victorian houses especially ones with original features. Is there also a fireplace in the lounge? I don't necessarily think you need exactly the same on both rooms. I this if the flooring is the same then you can create two different moods. Like you say if one get more light and has a large bay window then you will automatically get a very different feel. I would say that out of the colours you mentioned I would be more inclined to go with the grey tones in the front room. These would tie in tonally with the navy in the dining room. I would also follow the same theme with woodwork and mouldings etc. Perhaps you could be brave and introduce a bright accent colour in the front room like a lovely bright yellow/mustard colour. This would add the warmth and work with the brighter aspect. You could include it on larger spaces such as a rug, cushions and blinds etc Hope this helps. 4 years agoI have used Dulux Light & Space Ocean Ripple and I didn’t notice any difference in application at all compared to other Dulux paints.
