leave the wall blank or not?

I have this fairly large wall in my dining area which is empty except for the air conditioner. If it didn’t house the air con I would paint it or cover in in wallpaper but eh. So, does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do with the wall? Leave it as is or..... (insert great idea here). The last photo shows the current furniture (mid century inspired)

It looks like a nice room. I would definitely add a large plant and I think I'd go for something round in an abstract pattern. You could have African bowls (that I haven't arranged very well!) or maybe a collection of teal earthenware plates or whatever you like :)

I think it needs something on it. You could try your artwork on that wall and put a mirror above the sideboard

A niche would be a good way to add some drama without infringing on your circulation space. It doesn't have to be deep to be effective. You can do one simple vertical rectangle, and line the back with a mirror, or add some colour with paint, wallcovering or wood. It would be great if you could also add a recessed light fixture at the top. The attached images are perhaps too busy for your situation, but it gives you a good idea of what can be done. Good luck!

A medium color floor is easier to keep looking clean than a dark or light floor. For an open floor plan, I would choose planks. One of the main features in the design of an open floor plan is to draw the eye through the space. A herringbone pattern would be confusing to the eye. Use herringbone in a small room.

Difficult as the air con doesn’t look central to the wall so it might throw out some artwork if it was a single piece. I think several pieces or a gallery wall would work best.

The air con unit isn’t too noticeable so some art would look good, or a large mirror. The art could be one big piece or a collection creating a gallery wall. I wouldn’t paint the wall as that could well highlight the air con unit.. Nice room.

Possibly some/a large artwork, id possibly side on leaving it blank as you mention mid century, I too am a fan of MC but have my living room very dark, don’t get me wrong, I love it but have been getting the strong urge to paint it all white, I have a modern/mid century feel to my home and as nice is the dark room is it just stands out so much from my other rooms.

Why don't you move the bookshelf over to the far left of that wall as it looks as if it would sit more neatly in that alcove, then hang a large piece of art under the ac unit.

Try searching binga baskets. Huckleberry/etsy seemed to be the main suppliers but they've now hit the high street
