What kitchen shelves do we go with?
Now our kitchen has been sprayed, we're trying to decide what to do with the space as shown in the picture below. Just wondering if any of you kind and helpful people can advise us please?
We currently have two shelves on the wall, which we do like, but something just seems a bit off with them. Any suggestions of what can be improved so we can reuse them?
Or should we remove them completely and have scaffold boards, similar to the below?
We also need to sort out the wall lighting cable! Would a wall light work or under cabinet lighting look best?

4 years agoYour shelving is very cute, but maybe a bit flat. Shelving always looks better with a mixture of tall and short, fat and thin etc. Of course you are limited height wise so how about a plant or two? Say one tall and one trailing sitting on top of the Shelves. If you’re worried about caring for plants, there are some lovely faux ones about.
As to lighting I think wall lights would be in keeping rather like this

Comments (16)You need some kitchen accessories kettle etc that tie in with the red and also some artwork. The red you have chosen looks on my monitor to be a cool red, perhaps a bit of a warmer shade would help. i would also extend the dining area curtains down to the floor, they will cosy up the space, as would a statement rug to give a bit more life to the room. If your living room is green then it may be nice to have some token green of the same shade, somewhere in the kitchen, a plant or some artwork, and add a bit of the kitchen red to your living room, so that there is some continuity of colour in your home, as opposed to having two separate colour boxes and never the twain shall meet.....See MoreDo these curtains go??
Comments (11)One problem is that your curtains aren't full enough for the wide window. Houzz might have a formula but I found one here: http://www.ehow.com/way_6038775_many-should-hung-double-window_.html. Also, try this: remove the tie backs and let the curtains fall naturally. That should help a little with the fullness. Then buy pillows that bring in those colors. You can also add color to that bookcase by painting it the same color as the wall for a more built-in look. Add more collectibles or books to the shelves. Then find a large graphic poster for that long wall. Next pull the sofa and chairs closer to the fireplace so that they have at least two feet on the rug. Pull the end table closer to the furniture. Comments (17)I personally like the kitchen, kind of a Scandinavian modern look. leave the skirts, doors and trims as is. Paint wise, I am going to invite you to a kitchen gallery that I think works well with the existing aesthetic you have now. I like the "Melrose Kitchen" in this instance, as an example of wall color. And undermount led strips and a plastic cable tray, go straight down, stick masking tape over it and paint it in the same color as the walls. Place a small plant in front of the tray and enjoy your fresh looking kitchen.
