Exterior brick restoration
Hi,
I have done peelaway7 1 layer on external wall of house. There’s a really dark gray layer That’s still there - almost like mortar; only a few bricks came out ok. should I do another layer of paint stripper? Or just keep scrapping/sanding/washing? I tried a sander but that did nothing except go down to the softer orange part of the brick. I have no idea if that matters just seems some of the bricks fall away a bit and leave a dustier oranger face.

It IS red on the inside as well, he insisted on that when we purchased it. no one here has it red on the inside and I wanted it to be white on the inside. do you see my dilemma?;) I agree with everything you are saying, I suppose this is the reason why so far I was not 100% sure about the black for the door either, although I like black...Agree, there is too much wall and I find the house to be looking a bit 'bland' and would like to change that. I LOVE shutters, but read somewhere that you never put shutters on wide windows, so got unsure about that, too...but perhaps just the one as I stated earlier. Would the color on that shutter be the same as the door (if I ever settle on a door color)? Unfortunately window boxes are not an option as we have quite a few cats and they may be used as litter boxes;) please don't tell me to get rid of the cats;)... Regarding the stoop (entrance) : we need to add another step (made of cement) on top of the existing step: it was removed when the new door was fitted. We were thinking of putting slate tiles or something dark to match the roof, if that makes any sense.... It is porous cement so unsuitable for painting, I think. Comments (0)We are updating the exterior of our home (which is a MCM california ranch). We will not be painting the cherokee red brick and the roof will be replaced with dark gray/black. Currently, we have white windows, but they all need to be replaced. Would dark windows look right? We like the idea of a medium gray color incorporated somewhere as an accent, but not sure what should go where. Our facia/soffit and garage doors will be replaced along with this reno. I've painted the old windows an iron ore to have a visual. I'd appreciate any insights. Thank you in advance! 4 years agoi scrubbed this brick with nylon scrubber; took forever. Any easier way? Would the brick acid be quicker?
