Hi. I am currently looking for new carpet for my newly renovated home and was wondering what the best type is for a frequently used living room and stairs. Is the thicker, softer type of carpet suitable for these rooms or would a flatter carpet be more suitable? My concern is that with the thicker, deeper pile, that dirt/fibres/hair will be more visible and will need cleaning more often. Also concerned that it will flatten in certain areas. Also, what type of underlay is best? I've been to two different carpet shops with differing advice. One advised the rubber underlay is better and the other said the foam is better and that rubber crumbles and disintegrates. Thanks in advance!
