Any suggestions for our ground floor layout?
Comments (14)Jen, are you sure everything is in proportion? I'm asking, because that store seems to be just a bit wider than a door (so about 1 m) which is fine, but doesn't give much space to manoeuvre inside it. Also, a bit too many doors in a small space, but I'm afraid I can't offer you a remedy for that. You have two wide, massive windows and a door in between, I think that will give plenty of light. Personally, I'd just add skylights or a glass roof. Or a long strip of glass all along What you don't seem to have is ventilation windows. Trust me, you're going to want one in the utility, or at least a good fan. Transom style windows could work too if you can open them. I really wish you'd see an architect... there are lots of different, small things that a professional can spot from miles away that you wouldn't even consider. As I said, I regret we didn't; our house is great, but it could've been even better!...See MoreThree different bathroom layouts
Comments (6)Also, do you really need a bath in it? You could stick in a 1500mm shower along the right hand wall but back towards the door then a toilet and sink opposite each other under the window. Loads of natural light at the sink (could even be a double sink) and plenty of room to move around without it feeling too cramped....See MoreBathroom vanity unit too small for space
Comments (5)If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!...See MoreAdding a tub to a small bathroom
Comments (3)We also bought our house before babies - but I can now tell you they usually are mainly in the tub yrs1-8 maybe even 10 or 11! We opted to put both a tub (with an electric shower) and a walk-in shower / wet room type arrangement in the main bathroom. Seems like a lot in 1 place but works for us....See MoreSonia
