To pay or not to pay

Hi Guys!

After two terrible tiling jobs in a wet room and finally getting the tiles done properly in the remaining floor by a third tiler (hired by the same plumber that hired the other two bad tilers) I'm supposed to pay the remaining E650 quoted for the labor. (I already paid E300 for plumbing job in bathroom). After spending an extra E800 in new tiles from an independent shop so the bad tile job could be rectified I'm thinking not to pay them at all as I consider that I already paid more than enough (THEY would actually owe me at least E150 ). I also think they are illegal as no contract or detailed info was given at any stage of the whole bathroom renovation (plumber was asking for payment in cash). They were also charging me for materials that were not even necessary like extra trims, extra glue, etc. Am I entitled to refuse to pay as I had to buy extra tiles because of their mistakes? I would appreciate any opinion.

I have to agree that glass film is brilliant- we used Purlfrost online. You can either pre measure and they will cut for you you or you can buy a piece and cut to your own specs. It arrives rolled in a tube. We've done two rooms- the living room with full frost and the other, a bedroom- with just the bottom half of the window covered which looks pretty modern and sharp. It was supposed to be a temporary solution till we got shutters organised but it looks so effective and fresh that we've decided to save the small fortune that shutters cost! The help line was great- they recommended leaving a gap around the edge near the frame for a beveled glass effect which did actually work! You can get different levels of opaqueness - we used the less opaque for more light but still private- or patterns or stained glass effect. Its really easy to apply yourself too, and apparently comes off with no damage to the glass at all, so good if. Works out really economical as well. Can you tell I'd recommend it?! :)

A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years.

3 d floor plan - Room Sketcher?

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations in relation to 3D floor plans? I found Room Sketcher and you pay a fee and they adapt your 2D plans in to 3D so you can add furniture, decide on best layout of room etc. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this or can advise how user friendly it is?
