Need ideas for how to furnish this room
Comments (4)Thank you for your comment, The fireplace looks so bare, originally there was a huge surround and I couldn't believe the size of the actual grate when it was all removed. I had wondered if I should have had the piece of granite hearth extended to the wall and built a narrow bookcase by the chair. I will definitely get a mantel. No tv yet, don't know where to put it,? There is a tv point in the corner to the left hand side of the couch, just under the window. Thanks again,...See MoreHelped needed for hall decor
Comments (3)i was going to say tapestry or a glass mirrored effect, as well haha. or just a large painting that you will love to look at. your chandelier is very nice, but i've seen many with that kind of entrance, that they have those really long, pendent lighting, for a dramatic effect. but i'm thinking, you don't want to change that. or a giant clock. or one of those wall stickers. or animal heads haha. few ie attached...See MoreNeed help for hall stairs landing areas
Comments (5)I am a fan of black as a disappearing colour! If the tha bannisters were painted black the Victorian look of cast iron would fit. The walls are too pale , would you consider a dark green( FB Green Smoke) under the rail, next to the carpet, and a much lighter version above( FB Light Blue or Pale Powder). Not really sure of the shade of green in the carpet, it might be more FB Oval Room. I am fond of the Pugin look but realise it is powerful and invariably used with very dark paints. We changed our ginger brown stairs, over 3 storeys to white. 13 years later the effort was not only worth it but the pain has subsided too!...See MoreHall and stairs
Comments (0)Hi, I have pine wood stairs, skirting, doors and architrave and I'm looking for some nice ideas to brighten it all up without painting the architrave , skirting and doors. That would be too much of a big job. I thought maybe cream for the walls but I'd like some bolder ideas and maybe the same cream on the instep of the stairs. Don't really know how to proceed. I'd like to show off the pine to its best. Also, it's a 3 bed bungalow so not a big mansion place, should fit the style of the house. I like a bit of black too and colour. What about pictures? Are they a bad idea? Thank you...See MoreE D
