Stair runner, width, and curves help

We had a stair runner installed, and the straight part looks good. But want to check what you think about the work on the curved part. The runner is narrow 55cm but don’t think that should be an issue. I think they need to cut a specific piece to avoid the distortion. Or are we being overly picky? One core seems a. It better than the other. Sigh.

Gosh! No, you are not being picky! Terrible workmanship! I would ask them to do it again if it was my stairs! Maybe you could ask for different fitter to rectify the mistakes, as the one who did this obviously doesn’t know how to do it properly!
Ps: I love your choice of runner!

Looks very wonky to me, sorry but I like straight lines especially when it’s in the pattern.

I would not be happy about that at all sorry. I don’t think you need to concern yourself with whether it’s the measurer’s fault or the fitter’s fault (unless you got an independent fitter?) your contract is with the carpet shop so I’d just be asking them to sort it. Gather as many pics as you can of what it should look like ie with the lines straight and the runner edges vertical on the risers. Shjuly’s second pic has a similar 90 degree turn in the stairs to yours so is a good example.

mmn very wonky I would ask them to redo it a bit of careful thought especially when the lines were going squiffy would have at least given you a better finish.

I think shjuly's first pic demonstrates the problem you'll have with that pattern unfortunately... Either they can go straight down, but then are unlike to match the step below.. or they can do what they've done with yours.. which I think is potentially stretch it slightly so the lines to match up, just in a bit of a squiffy way...

Have a look at pics, see what you prefer and Speak to them I think.

The cutting of the 2nd one isn't great, but the third one is terrible. I would also get them to pin that under the bullnose. It's not the thickest runner and unless pinned I think it could slip.

    Anyhow, definitely needs re-doing.

there's already paint lines on the wood for the fitter to follow. fitted entirely wrong, get your money back and get a proper flooring fitter in.
