what type of paint?!

I have had my walls plastered in my bathroom recently and they are dry.

I have no idea what the difference between a mist coat and a primer is?

Also, our paint contains anti-mould, moisture etc.

How should I paint the room?

A mist coat for new plaster is 20% water mixed with 80% paint ( plain emulsion ), put it on with a roller, and cut in around the edges with a brush. It will soak straight in, but is designed to try seal the wall a little.

You would then need two further coats of emulsion at full strength.

@Maths wife - just to clarify for the poster of the question , after they do the mist coat in the decorators standard emulsion, the 2 top coats can be in the bathroom paint they have, no?

thank u . yes need a bigger table for room. this one is to small. also I have two semi circle wall light lights on each wall. light fittings are brushed chrome no sure if this matter when choosing ceiling lights. I want to keep it traditional . thanks for all ur help.

As above if you just buy the cheapest of cheap emulsion and water it down, make sure the watered down mist coat is not a vinyl and just a bog standard cheap emulsion, any pale colour will do so either a cheap brilliant white or even check the bargain shelf of your local store for a colour someone has had mixed and not wanted. Then yeah two or three topcoats of your chosen colour can go straight over that once its dried of course. This is all just to make sure the new paint doesn't peel off and gets a good adhesion to the new plaster. Good luck and share some photos when done.

Ohh and the mist coat will go everywhere and you will get covered in it so make sure to cover anything that you don't want to get covered in paint spots!!
