What colour front door? Need kerb appeal!
We are doing up the outside of our house, on a limited budget. We have just painted the wall which is rendered, dulux Egyptian cotton although it looks much paler. We will not be changing or painting the brown UPVC windows or cladding, which aren’t to our taste but due to budget and time constraints we are stuck with.
The front door needs a colour to complement the brown. I was thinking a sage green or even a sophisticated pink? I may also add some shutters to try to make it look more cottagey.
Any advice would be great!

Comments (10)Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. Comments (17)Never been to Ireland but when I think of Irish pubs, I think of rich mahoganies and deep jeweltones. Something welcoming and friendly with a bit of blarney; steeped in tradition with a sense of humor. My quick net search has turned up exteriors of mostly primary hues but a lot is going to depend on what type of clientele the owner wants to attract. We are able to change the siding, we can paint and change the eaves or gutters, the windows have to stay in place but we can change the style or add grills etc... The roof stays (Timberlane Shakewood color) and our door is going to be moved. We purchased a 6 lite craftsman door. It will go where there is an existing window and will face the driveway and street. We do a lot of gardening so we were thinking of a cottage or bungalow look. 4 years agoSage green looks wonderful with brown tones so spot on there. The upstairs could do with an update, so how about painting the cladding Egyptian Cotton too? It will just brighten it up a bit. Here’s a few front doors to inspire you.

4 years agoSomething like a greenish blue like this (although the style of house is different) may work with the bricks and the woodwork.

4 years agoI think a sage green would look good. Mine are a "Chartwell green" (what it is called in the composite door brochure), which is a light sage green and gives a nice "pop" but without being in your face bright.

4 years agoHi we had a client with a similar situation to yours and they went for the same coloured door with white internal to match their frames which was a composite modern style door....
