How to create floating wall

Any ideas on how to achieve this look? I'd like a floating tv wall but rather it didnt look like wood like attached.

Advice please?

You would have timber structure, plasterboard and than skimmed. The illusion effect on picture is from the LED lights behind/inside of the timber/plasterboard/plaster structure.

Thanks. Beautiul space. Can you please take a photo of the wall that is across from the island? -there is no overhang on the counter...so I am not seeing stools there on either the long portion of the island or the shorter portion by the window. -if you mean by the window, there is a door on one side and an oven on the other.....hence it is a traffic way,,,,,,you don't want stools there I am not sure why you feel the need to put something there. You might consider art on the wall across from the island to ground that wall. Need a photo.

is there ample space to put a furniture piece behind the table? a buffet? a tall cabinet in the corner? it will be difficult to adequately fill in the empty wall space with art alone...and a bit of storage is always good, and a surface for serving will come in handy. frame any art selections with clean, modern framing for a great effect in here...no mats. art is such a personal choice. look at art.com for some large scaled art prints that you love to look at, that will work with the palette, and will express your personality into your space. ;)

The rules may have changed but when we built our extension the wall adjoining our neighbour had to be completely within our own boundary. It looks as if your neighbour has continued along the party wall and therefore half the depth of the wall is on your land. It might be worth getting a chartered building surveyor to check it out as otherwise it may cause difficulties when either you or your neighbour come to sell. If I'm wrong about this maybe a professional on here could correct me. Other than that I think you should make the best of the little private courtyard it has afforded you by using plants in pots and climbers to soften the wall.

I painted my kitchen three years ago, and I love it. It's hard work and can take some weeks to do. You need to take doors off, remove the hinges and handles. Remember you need to prime and paint two coats on each side, so for a door that equates to six coats of paint and letting each coat dry. I used Mylands of London paint, I'm just hooked on this paint as the eggshell is dead flat with only 8 percent sheen, you wont get another paint any flatter. And if the paints good enough for Downtown Abbey, then it's good enough for us. I would hold back on painting wall tiles, as they are white and look fine , paint the cupboards first and see what it looks like. I choose Myalnds paint and had the colour mixed in a farrow and ball blue green. See photos. Good luck Yvonne

As Nuhous says there are LED strips behind- the frame is smaller than the front board so there is a recess behind to hide lights

Agree with the structure / addition of LED tape. You could consider using a textured laminate panel instead of plasterboard for improved durability. Companies such as Egger have a massive selection..
