To panel or not?
Comments (21)Hi Marie. It's difficult to tell how wide the room is but a round table could work at the foot of the stairs. Dress with a large bowl and plants/flowers etc. you could also try hanging 3 chandeliers or pendants down the hall. I would also have either 2 matching consoles opposite each other by the front door or keep your existing and add some seating opposite to create symmetry. I think if you were to dress the console with bigger items it would stand out more ie ginger jars on the bottom shelf, classic urns, plants etc on the top. Once you've got the basics done and budget permits, you can add further floor standing decorative pieces, a small chair etc. I think you definitely need some tall art by the front door though or even mirrors if you're not keen to add art...See Morekitchen design help!
Comments (6)@Norwood Architects took the words right out of my mouth. I too would not do the open shelves on the base cabinets with the clipped corner. Looks like you are going for a more modern kitchen and those don't fit the updated style I see here. As far as the double ovens, I would move them to the left one spot so they sit next to the first set of cabinets. I would also remove the last upper cabinet (on the right) and extend the open shelving. The shelves look dwarfed as they are now by the large wall of cabinets. Hopefully, removing a bank of upper cabinet and extending the shelves will help balance the proportions. I would also eliminate the shelves on the island too, but that's just more of a personal preference ;) Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous kitchen!...See MoreKitchen layout for a new build
Comments (0)Hi all, I'm tearing my hair out re kitchen layout for a new build and would love your suggestions. I'm finding it hard to design something clean-cut but yet that is not too closed in around the entrance door to the kitchen. The style will be handleless matt with a white stone worktop, very modern hopefully. Anyway, we will be having the hob closer to the wall to allow for more seating space on peninsula - it's measuring about 2.7m at the moment. Potentially a mix of the 3 different plans might work best, but the position of the sink and hob won't change. Would love to hear your feedback.
