Living room overhaul
Comments (10)Agree with everything Vikrant Sharma Homez said. My input: - An alternative needs to be found for the hulking bookshelf. - Take extra time and care to choose appropriately-sized furniture for the room. - Consider a roman shade or roman shades for the window seat windows. - Remove sheers - Improve lighting. Can you get recessed installed? - Edit accessories and choose only those which provide a lot of impact. A bunch of little things just looks like clutter. I like to do the following exercise. Go around the room and touch every single thing in the room one time. Think about each item you touch. Then, after you've finished, ask yourself what you can remove. Remove those items. It seems weird, but it's a great way to ensure that you clear clutter. - Incorporate some living things in the room (plants & flowers)...See Moremajor help required for boring living room

Comments (7)you know what? my house is not traditional, and yet, i somehow managed to buy an oriental rug for my living room (as you can see from my photo) i've seen so many wonderful oriental rugs, it took me a little while to choose. but my problem was, i was looking online. finally, i just went into a store with my husband, and we chose together. there are thinner ones and thicker. so depends what you want/need. i went for thicker. because these rugs have several different colors in them, i think you can choose from quite a selection and not be too worried. me personally, get nervous with too much light colors, as i have a dog. but the great thing with these rugs, you can barely see any dirt or marks (if any?) i think they have good choices and prices at boundary-mills and costco. i do understand also, about you not being sure cos of your patterned sofa. don't over think. i have seen soooo many pictures of people just going for it and mixing patterns. i know you can find some on houzz. i'll have a look, too. my living room even has some tartan in the curtains. one sofa is solid and the other two have stripes ha and i think it works with my rug. MAYBE, take a picture of your sofa. go to a shop with the rugs and put the photo against the rug and imagine. as for the 3 photos you showed, i like the creamer one and darker one....See MoreLooking for Ideas for Kitchen/Living Room
Comments (12)Two ideas. Both times I would block up the entrance to the second half of the room to make more usuable space. Both ideas have a island with a dining table attached. Obviously these drawings are not to scale but everything should fit in. I would utilise the kitchen cuboards for utilities- intergrated appliances. If you can dont forget to use the space under your stairs as well. Also use the long wall at the bottom of the stairs for extra storage and alcoves....See Moreleelee
