hey all. we have had to use a pump to create some pressure for shower in bathroom however this pump is in my bedroom boiler cupboard , adjacent to bathroom. As you can imagine every time someones takes shower makes a huge noise and Its causing me huge grief. Any ideas to make this motor less noisey ? Is there any box that can be put around it to reduce noise . TIA
My shower pump is in the airing cupboard in the spare bedroom, and yes it is very noisy I agree! I was warned by my plumber that it would be noisy so wasn’t a surprise, and as we had low water pressure we had to have one. It doesn’t bother me, but we all have different noise tolerance levels. I don’t think it can be boxed in, but would be interesting to see what others say.
Agree with ED but if they can’t move it away from the cupboard walls then the next option would be to sound board the cupboard walls themselves to help stop the sound travelling. Ideally you would do both ie separate the pump from the structure, insulate/sound proof around it and then sound board inside the cupboard. Triple layer effect! You can buy sound board, rubber matting and also use an egg carton style foam which rebounds sound as well. Just check first about having to have air flow around the pump
