I think you need to be more specific. Are you making alterations and need an architect? Do you need someone with experience of listed buildings. Or are you looking to update the interior and exterior in which case do you need to find a designer? Or does the house need a sympathetic builder to repair the roof, require, update central heating etc? And of course the size might well dictate who could take it in- for instance a two bedroomed cottage will be a smaller job than a manor house but they could both be Georgian. Presumably this post is because you are after recommendations of local specialists
Hi JoNathan- apologies! It Is a 4 bedroom detached property - not listed. When I say Georgian, I am referencing the style and that we would like that style implemented in the renovations. In order to reconfigure the house and potentially add a two storey extension (1000sq ft) I believe we would need both a builder and designer.
In my opinion you have a clear idea that you need extra space and you want it to feel grand and elegant. I would firstly consider the work that has to be done- for instance rewiring, heating, kitchen landscaping, reroofing, windows etc and then work out how much budget is left for extending as this will dictate the total size. You then need creative input- you can ask the Houzz community for inspiration on a post like this. Or you can give a brief to a professional such as a designer or architect. Personally I would post some pictures with a floor plan to gain some opinions that may help shape your ideas so that you have a better idea before spending money on professionals.
Are you looking to apply a Georgian style to a modern plan? or are you wanting to use Georgian design ideals to re-plan the house in a thoroughly Georgian style?
Also are you wanting an authentic Georgian or something more like 18 Folgate street in Spitalfield? (video below) its a method you could employ to great effect, its not an 'authentic' house interior but it does have a much stronger feel about it. Its a house I've loved for decades.
It sounds like you will need at least an architect, landscape gardener and interior designer to achieve what you're after, you'd be best to find ones which actually love and specialise in the style rather than ones that will pay lip-service to it.
