Where do you store your kitchen roll?

We are spending the bank holiday weekend ripping out our old floor and generally prepping for the builders to arrive Tuesday to begin our new kitchen diner knock through renovation (yey!)

But I've been distracted by the finishing touches and it got me thinking - where do I put my kichen roll and other bits like that?

I remember my parents having an under cupboard holder. We currently have a cheap wooden pole thing on the window sill. Lovely and convenient but hardly stylish!

Is there a practical but nice looking way to store it? Or am I best shoving it in a cupboard somewhere?
I've resigned myself to shoving the washing up stuff under the sink to hide it away!

I personally like the kitchen, kind of a Scandinavian modern look. leave the skirts, doors and trims as is. Paint wise, I am going to invite you to a kitchen gallery that I think works well with the existing aesthetic you have now. I like the "Melrose Kitchen" in this instance, as an example of wall color. The trim is painted here, but leaving yours as is, I believe, would be fine! Happy Houzzing.

I've had a look at free offerings for floor planning software. It depends on the level you want to go to. Sweethome3D http://www.sweethome3d.com/ is truly free because it's open source (no fees if you want to draw more than one plan etc). I've found I can get reasonably detailed with it from layout perspective but I doubt it would be good enough for a drawings for a building permit (although I'm not certain of this). As a graphic designer you'll have an affinity for graphics software. If you want to be able to draw more detailed drawings Id take the time to learn Sketchup. I know some architects use this as their software of choice. I'm definitely with you @Jason Carter - the only way to really control your budget is to plan ahead and choose and price everything that you can think of before you break ground. Otherwise you're in a situation where you have to make quick compromises during the build which leads to mistakes etc. In my work we use requirements tracking tools. I think it would be really helpful to communicate to the contractors exactly what is going to go on in the room - why the extra outlets are there and in the position they're in. That way they have a deeper understanding of why the specs are the way they are and they don't make decisions that detract from the design - they might even come up with suggestions that support the ideas behind the designs.

The tile is very pretty. I don't know if it is just the colours showing up differently on screen but the light grey appears to be a different tone (more purple to me) than your tile. If you want a light grey I would take the tile to the store and try for a better match. The dark color ties in nicely to the tile and could be very dramatic and stunning if the room gets a lot of light.

I’ve got one of those pole things too which holds a kitchen roll. It sits near my sink, not stylish, not cool, but I’m not really bothered.

Ours, also on a metal pole stand, takes pride on the kitchen’s worktop, albeit standing on a posher looking circular tray together with some coffee and tea storage canisters.
