My utility room-please help
Comments (3)I deal with a lot of laundry too, especially at times when the kids will bring me a weeks worth of clothing. Where I am we pay electricity at different rates depending on the time of day so if I don't keep it somewhat organized it will start to overflow because weekdays I can only do loads in the evening to save $. One thing I did was to install cabinets with doors above the washer and dryers. I just re-used ones from our kitchen tear out, but you can usually get second hand ones fairly cheap if you are on a budget. This keeps all our laundry washing/dryer needs tucked away. We also have extra batteries and lights stored in there and our first aid and medication in the other cupboard for us and our livestock. We also have a laundry sorter for darks/whites/linens. It looks like you already have a great set up for that with your bins. Not sure how old your kids were, but they can start at a pretty young age at putting clothing in drawers if label the drawers with pictures. I think my kids were about 5 when they started doing it. It wasn't perfect of course, but they would have to put them in the drawers after I folded the clothes. It helps if you don't have clothes that need hanging. My one teenage son still gets all his clothes in drawers because they never seemed to make it on hangers in the closet. I would designate a folding area for the counter above the appliances and the counter above the cabinet as where folded clothes stay until their owner puts them away. I'd also maybe put some hooks or a rod above your laundry sorter. This would allow you to have clothes that are hung put on the hangers until they are put away....See MoreCompact Bathroom Design Help
Comments (6)It small But your cabin sink unit is a good idea as you have storage space and it looks neat. I have changed my bath many times to shower unit and it has leaked every time, some times it has been the plumbers fault or bad design then it was a visitor who let the water spill while showering the last time it flooded the insurers wanted the bathroom TANKED! meaning waterproof walls and floors. This is done by an experienced plumber contractor of repute! as the insurers said too many claims from too many people with bad waterproofing. the insurer said they would not insure again or any other clients who had not got their bathroom water proofed by expert plumber fitters. SO I have gone back to the Bath with a shower enclosed and found it tops for waterproof....See MoreNeed help for my utility room
Comments (1)I think you might have to have a carpenter build a cabinet around the washing machine for the dryer to be placed on. I don't think a shelf would be strong enough. There might be some photos on the Internet of such a shelf......See MoreDesign Help for Collector's Room
Comments (0)Hi all! I am a collector of dolls. Have approx 650 in total. Approx 250/300 are out of their boxes - majority are collector dolls but about 80 are played with dolls that I may use in diorama's. The loose dolls stand at about 13" including stands... The rest of the dolls are boxed and are varying heights, depths, colours, etc... Looking for advice on how to best show them in a room? I have some glass cabinets from Ikea which are ideal for the loose dolls but not for the boxes...and would work out too expensive...so was thinking of putting them in middle of room...? Windows are not ideal but can be changed at this stage. Window on back wall is a long narrow window high up in room (not a normal window). I didn't want windows but engineer insisted. Thanks in advance!...See MoreAbi Smith
