Need help with colours in living room

We’re about to get the decorators in next week to paint the walls in our living room, moving in soon. We’re just about to buy a brown leather sofa (worn looking). Its a smallish bungalow so we need a lot of light colours as we do not want dark colours. what colour walls would go with this kind of sfa? I was thinking like a “Benjamin Moore Olympic mountain“ colour with white units and very light touches around the room like cushions. a nice indoor plant too?? Suggestions and thoughts please, tips and advice welcome too! First time buyer with the Mrs so we want it to be perfect

Must confess not heard of that paint. I googled it and it looks like only available to U.S and Canada. Popular with brown leather currently are off whites, coppers and navy accents.

Here are some examples for light, airy living rooms with brown leather furniture. In smaller spaces, the trick is to use furniture with visible legs and clean lines. So you can see the floor under it, makes the space look larger and it also doesn't block the light so much. Same goes for armrests that aren't very bulky. As you can see in the examples, the open armrests of the chairs let through light and aren't blocking your view through the space.

Is the chandelier thing seeming a bit small for the room or is it just me? Given that your walls are plain, the sofa is plain how about a patterned rug? Do you like Persian rugs? I find that dark green wainscotting too heavy and would paint it a lighter color. Given you have just moved in I assume you are planning to be there a while. If you like traditional style do you want a fairly safe color scheme re walls and curtains, keeping future resale in mind. Or are u happy to decorate according to your tastes? The mirror seems a bit small to me.

We just painted a color called "Latte" over the dark red walls in our place and we keep thinking that someone left the light on! It adds that much light to the place as the red was just sucking out any light in the place. Find a color you like more for that wall and repaint...and/or maybe add a ceramic tile backsplash? It will make it feel brighter in there immediately as you will get a lot of light reflection. I love the idea of sage green with your cabinets.

Our living room is a cosy size, about 15x15. It has a large window on one wall, fireplace on the opposite (will be a cream cast iron traditional style fireplace). I was thinking of painting it a very mellow sage green but am at a loss with what curtains to put in.

Could you upload photos of the room and sofa you're buying? It looks like a nice warm grey but would buy testers. Paint on pieces of large card/thick paper and move it around the room so you can see how it works in different lights

Hugh, it's been available here for a while, it's very popular in the states, I only know the one colour which is revere pewter which seems as popular as elephants breath!

Jake check out the Classic Grey from Benjamin Moore. I have it in my studio and I have never seen a more perfect grey paint. It has wonderful qualities in light and dark settings and no hint of purple to it.
