Wall colour northwest bedroom

Hi all,

I want to give a cosy and warm atmosphere to my bedroom. I'm thinking about painting the wall behind the headbord in a blue tone or grey. I don't know which colour exactly as the bedroom faces northwest. Any advice?

I'm posting the picture of my bedroom (which still needs lots of decoration) and other picfures with the colours/style I like.

Hi Jenny,

This sounds lovely :) absolutely go for the dark blue, be bold. You can see from the Pinterest images that it works. You have a bright white headboard and warm oak bedsides to lighten it up. Plus once you add artwork above and if you keep your bedding light and bright then go for it :)

'Hague Blue' by Farrow & Ball is a stunning colour to go for and if you didn't want to go quite as dark then you could try the 'Stiffkey Blue' or the 'Inchyra Blue'.

Follow this link and grab a free F&B colour card, if you didn't want the expense of F&B paint, it is still a great colour reference card to have and many places will mix up and match the colours to them :) There's also lots of fab moody grey colours if you didn't want to go with the blue :)

With the wood trim, and a white crown . .. I think the duvet color scheme wants white painted skirting and window / window sill. Then, try a softer violet on the accent wall .. .since both the red or the blue could coordinate with that but otherwise we have opposites - As a backdrop, violet can be nice with gray and white. Look at bm faded violet http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/fadedviolet#ce_s=violet and bm picket fence for the other walls, ( a soft warm off white that echos the tone of the carpet) with crisp white trim. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/picketfence If you want a deep shade, look at wood violet .. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/woodviolet#ce_s=violet the thing with a small room is that a shot of intense color can do a lot if paired mostly with neutrals and white. Great if you have a white wood headboard or padded slipcover above the bed, white matted art. . .. you do have good natural light, but with a dark wall you will want bedside lighting to be light and bright for nighttime. Here, the wood provided a gold element that was sort of helpful with the blue but will clash with where you are going.. Paint it out, and voila, you are on your way. . . there is a thread where a woman focused on white with coral - I'll find it and bring you the link so you can follow her decision making - she chose a strong accent wall in a small room and then concentrated on white and it is lovely.

I definitely think some colour on the walls would look great with your monochrome curtains and furniture. I would suggest a relatively soft colour, maybe a duck egg or greyish green colour, nothing too vibrant that will battle with the bold monochrome! It's good to be bold. Try other options like Little Greene or Earthborne.

We would highly recommend Feature Wall Experts as pro, if you're London based.
