Bedroom badly needs an update!!
Comments (7)Hi. I do agree with all of what Apple pie said. If the chest of drawers or bed can't go elsewhere at minimum I'd remove the unit above and add a table lamp and vase of good faux flowers o the chest. If budget permits, move the air vent literally down a few feet where it is so it's not prominent, if not create a collage of art or decorative mirrors over that ŵall so it's less visible. The room appears quite dark (although that may be the pic!), so I'd paint the walls in savage ground by farrow and ball ( do get fabric samples first though as there are more paint colours available!). In future I would probably change the carpet (although it's nice) to a pale neutral as it's probably sucking the light. Maybe also paint the door as that looks quite dark. Using the pic posted from your Idea book I'd use that as inspiration using cream, pale bronze, antique gold etc. it's hard to tell if full length curtains will hang properly next to the wardrobe, if not, go for Roman blinds in a cream/natural floral, damask, bird toile etc. it's easy to mix any of these patterns with other florals etc for the bed. Ideally I'd hang the blind outside of the recess so as not to block light but I can't see if that would work. If you're on a budget do look at ebay for blinds or fabric, often designer guild cushions or some of the high street names will also come up. Personally I'd go for plain bed linen and add cushions and a throw mixing plain and patterns in different fabrics. I can't see what light you have but a chandelier would go well with this scheme, you could try bhs....See MoreHelp with bedroom decor
Comments (1)Cornforth white is one of my go-to colours, matched with a Grey carpet will look stylish and chic. Pairing these with Blush tones and a muted metallic Chrome / Gold or Copper would look perfect. Gold and Brush Steel tend to stand the test of time so either would be a great addition. A bespoke Headboard would make this space elegant and mature. Heavy tracked ceiling to floor length curtains would provide a high-quality finish. Comments (0)I am doing up my 8 year old daughter's bedroom, she has totally gone off the princess/pink theme and wants grey tones instead - her taste would be older than a typical 8 year old. She has a large room approx 14' x 14'. On one of these walls she has built in wardrobes, ivory colour (which will be staying). I am lifting her carpet and putting walnut colour laminate flooring (her choice), i have got her a white double bed from Ikea as well as 2 white lockers. So it is well on it's way but I am stuck as to what colour to put with the grey. I haven't yet chosen a grey colour which she wants on her back wall (The headboard of the bed will be on this wall and bed coming into the middle of the room) so any grey colour recommendations I would appreciate. Also can you recommend any other colour to paint the other 3 walls (one of which has a large window on it) other than white which is what i've been thinking but think it may look too cold. Also i am open to painting the ceiling in a different colour other than white but looking for advice. She has fuschia pink curtains at the moment which I think I will have to change but haven't decided on this either or may change to Roman blinds. Grey and blush pink accessories is what I am thinking but finding it hard to source Blush pink curtains so should I bring another colour in to the room to compliment these colour. I would love your feedback, thank you in advance....See Morebedroom with large black wardrobe and brass bed ideas for paint | deco
Comments (2)I had wardrobes in wood finish They looked so dark So I could not cope with BLACK.! I would sand and paint the wardrobe white and the walls. The bed you could make pull down covers for top and end . (Make them like an open bag so you can wash them .But a devan bed would give open space look).. materal of the same colour as the curtains. Padding them or just covering. Make the spread the same colour. For day time. That should lift the darkness from the room. You can have a blackout blind for night if you want to keep the colours light. My room looked a treet much brighter. and I sleep better now. .OliveH...See Moreminipie
