Need help picking paint color for new wall unit

I’ve been struggling to pick a color for weeks and I need to make a decision soon so hoping you can advise!
I’m getting a new full wall tv unit built into my sitting room to replace an old ikea tv unit there presently, it will have presses at the bottom, space in the middle for wall mounting a tv, and shelves all around. It will come up to the ceiling and will have spotlights at the top. (sketch attached)
I need to pick a color from the Farrow and Ball catalog. I’m trying to find a color that works well with what I have already.
There is no other furniture in the room yet other than a couch as this is a new house and we only just moved in a couple of months ago, so I’m trying to match it to the walls, floors and the couch!
I’ve attached some pictures. Our walls are supposedly Elephant Breath (but the builders used a cheaper alternative I believe). I have some purple in the room (sofa cushions and a rug).
There is a large bay window on one side of the room and opposite to it a glass double door into the kitchen area. All doors, skirting boards, and coving are white.
I really don’t want to pick white and would like a bit of contrast, but not sure if I should go lighter or darker than the wall.
Any help really appreciated!

Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Will be a few more weeks before that's all done, but I'll post a picture when I eventually get there. Thanks again!

Consider going with tone on tone textured tiles. Keep it classical. Sometimes you can introduce a slightly darker contrasting grout color to accentuate the tile shape or design. The new trend is moving away from the subway tile look, it might date the kitchen in a short period of time. I would select your back splash tile before selecting the paint color. Paint colors I always select last, it is what pulls everything together.

you know what? my house is not traditional, and yet, i somehow managed to buy an oriental rug for my living room (as you can see from my photo) i've seen so many wonderful oriental rugs, it took me a little while to choose. but my problem was, i was looking online. finally, i just went into a store with my husband, and we chose together. there are thinner ones and thicker. so depends what you want/need. i went for thicker. because these rugs have several different colors in them, i think you can choose from quite a selection and not be too worried. me personally, get nervous with too much light colors, as i have a dog. but the great thing with these rugs, you can barely see any dirt or marks (if any?) i think they have good choices and prices at boundary-mills and costco. i do understand also, about you not being sure cos of your patterned sofa. don't over think. i have seen soooo many pictures of people just going for it and mixing patterns. i know you can find some on houzz. i'll have a look, too. my living room even has some tartan in the curtains. one sofa is solid and the other two have stripes ha and i think it works with my rug. MAYBE, take a picture of your sofa. go to a shop with the rugs and put the photo against the rug and imagine. as for the 3 photos you showed, i like the creamer one and darker one.
