Landing Space Ideas

I’ve not long moved into my new house.. What could I use this landing space for? At the moment it’s just hoarding my shoes until I get storage in the bedroom, but when that’s all sorted what could I put there?

If you don’t need it for storage I’d put a small chair, side table and light. Almost like a little reading nook.

Yes, that space is shouting “reading nook” to me too. Or you could add some bookshelves.

I love colors and most of your plan sounds fun and great but...that paint color looks very purplish and i would say maybe go lighter, more grey tone. Be cautious.

I am a fan of black as a disappearing colour! If the tha bannisters were painted black the Victorian look of cast iron would fit. The walls are too pale , would you consider a dark green( FB Green Smoke) under the rail, next to the carpet, and a much lighter version above( FB Light Blue or Pale Powder). Not really sure of the shade of green in the carpet, it might be more FB Oval Room. I am fond of the Pugin look but realise it is powerful and invariably used with very dark paints. We changed our ginger brown stairs, over 3 storeys to white. 13 years later the effort was not only worth it but the pain has subsided too!

I agree with maikola, turn under the stairs into storage. Maybe combine with a little desk for when the kids are older. I'd swap your dining and living area around. Have the tv on the long left wall with a small sofa a couple of feet in front of the doors and one opposite the tv. It does look as if a 5ft table would fit in the kitchen though? If you don't want to fill too much of the kitchen space consider a bench one side for you to use with chairs for the kids on the other. The area outside the kitchen could then be for the kids to play

I agree that with the strong carpet choice you don't need a patterned wallpaper. Instead consider painting the woodwork a deeper colour than the plain and pale walls for extra drama. If you particularly like the paper why not have it papered onto canvasses and hang it like pictures
