Comments (4)The back splash is certainly taste specific. If you are going to remodel in the spring, I certainly wouldn't spend a lot though. I have never done this myself, but I am pretty sure you can paint the tiles. That would be a huge improvement. Here is a blog that addresses that project. Hers looks great. http://www.11magnolialane.com/2013/03/12/painted-tile-backsplash-in-my-kitchen-a-year-later/...See MoreNew house, new baby no time
Comments (12)If painting, use low VOC paint. When replacing things, look for low, or non outgassing furnishings. No sharp corners on tables etc. Choose safety features on blinds to eliminate strangling on cords. Non breakable ornaments/bowls down low. Breakables and hot coffees up high. A chest for toys, but sand down sharp corners. A small chair. Any tall furniture should be affixed to wall with brackets. Don't be in a tearing hurry to remove all kitchen walls that can have a baby gate attached to them. Burns by scalding in kitchens kill and maim....See MoreColour scheme to go with red sofa and cooker
Comments (12)Paint the wood floor with a flooring paint. If you want to be creative, you can create your own special design. I've had painted wood floors in a previous home and everyone loved them. If you get tired of it, paint them a different color! Saves doing rip out and better for the environment! My floors held up well. I was surprised. I even did a faux marble floor for fun....See MoreTerraced House on a Shoestring
Comments (5)If you take the wall down between the hall and front room you wont get any more furniture into it as it will still be a corridor. I say save your money here. Personally I would put a dining table in here. The back room with the stairs will make a lovely living room. I presume the upstairs is not big enough to put the bathroom up there. In the kitchen area I would put the bathroom in the sink area and then put the kitchen at the garden end so that you end up with a lighter kitchen and a bathroom with no window. Plus this way even though your kitchen will be small now you may be able to extend it later....See MoreJules Mc
