Ideas to style this dining table

The dining table has a grey oak top and white metal leg.

The room in which currently sits has white brick walls, light grey wood floor and large windows.

Which colour / shape chairs would you choose, how would you style it when not in use?

That's really beautiful...the table legs are a statement themselves. You could really add a lot of colour with your chairs or keep it pretty neutral. I am picturing 2 chairs on the ends of the table with arms and 4 chairs on either side of the table without arms. Here are a few examples...do you have a favourite colour or print or texture?

Or you could keep the colour simple like the all white or even black chair below but add a cool design feature (the back of the chair) and then just style with a rectangular tray or 3 different sized vases. It's going to be beautiful! Good luck, Carrie

Just thinking about lighting too...is that already there? Some statement lighting would be a great styling feature as well:). Let me know if you want more help.

Just a quick note to thank you all for sharing your thought, ideas, experience and time. I especially want to thank Bluenan and decoenthusiaste for being with me through the all process for the last 6 months or so..., just wanted to post few photos of the results (https://www.houzz.com/discussions/any-ideas-for-final-touches-to-this-living-dinning-room-dsvw-vd~569586) as I feel it is not only me who created this space but it is your creations as much as mine. It may not be perfect or according to the the "Rules", but it is Me and my family. Each and every piece was chosen by me in different parts of the world and each one of them has a unique story behind. I am very pleased with my space. I love it! I am very blessed. .... and so I am off to my new project now... Back to school.... that's really going to be hard ;) Thank you all, once again.

Hi Lisa, nice sofa. I had a red sofa for 10 years and loved it ( though mine was fabric) I've changed the kitchen/ living room and it stuck out like a sore thumb. I gave in and put in a grey leather sectional one and I must say it's much easier to decorate around. Are you in Ireland? Have you heard of the 1933 company, they have very nice suites. Red makes a big statement! Just my 2 cents worth, good luck!

Hi guys, we've bought a house off the plans. It's a 4 bed end of terrace in a new Estate. We got to visit our house in a site visit recently and the kitchen is smaller than we expected. It's always hard to visualise space. I've included a plan below. The kitchen is 5m wide and flat against one wall. There are 2 doors for utility and family room in a corner that causes issues for the layout. Ideally we would want an island and a good long dining table. We can't find a way to place both in the space without completely cramping the kitchen. The reason for the island is for additional cabinets and counter space. Another option was for the double doors into the living room to be a solid wall, and for us to extend the kitchen around to the full wall, thereby eliminating the need for an island and allowing plenty of room for a good sized dining table. Another option is to put in a nice large island and moving the dining table into the family room, but it seems odd to be creating a seperate dining room. I would love to hear some of your thoughts on options of keeping the double doors, island and dining table.

With a base like that I'd keep it simple with the chairs. Something like the Bonaldo Filly...

I'd style it with some succulents...
