Living Rooms Furniture Design Dilemma

Hi everyone,

I’m struggling with the proportions of my sitting room. It’s currently used as a playroom but we’re ready to replace with a slightly more formal/ grown up space. I envisage sitting for up to 6, side tables and perhaps a console table under the window, but is the room too small for that? What layout would you go for? Ideas and suggestions much appreciated! Thank you x

How about you have a built in set of shelves on the right of the fireplace with the TV lower. Paint the shelves the same as the rest of the walls and the wall dark to hide the TV a bit. put some small lamps in there for light at that end.Get a chaise type sofa with the return at the TV side so you can watch it with your feet up but it gives extra seating for when you want it. Your light shelves are great, keep them, perhaps tie them in with the shelf backs the same dark paint. Rug and coffee table in front of the fire. Move lamp to the space opposite the door. Under the window have some small cube seats or an ottoman to give storage and a bit of extra seating. Keep the blind as curtains may intrude into the quite clean look too much. Tall narrow plant beside the door too. Keep all the big stuff neutral and tie the wall colour in with throws and cushions.

If you want extra seating but don't feel the room is big enough, what about having a console table with two upholstered footstools tucked underneath. You could then pull them out when you have guests?

I need help choosing what furniture size & placement for my living room. The room measurements are 5.6m x 4.2m. I want to get the 4 seater and accent chair but feel it needs more but unsure how to arrange it. The room will also have a fireplace and large tv/media unit similar to picture. Thank you both for taking the time to comment. Yes it would be better without the doors but unfortunately the doors have to stay. Patricia's U-shaped idea is promising. I could use the outer two thirds of the 'conservatory' area as a 'lounge' space and then place a dining table extending up into the rest of the kitchen area. I'm just unsure as to whether it will work as a unified space.
